Scott Hall will be open for viewing:
Sunday July 17, 2011 1 p.m.. – 10 p.m.
Monday – Friday July 18 – 22, 2011 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday July 23, 2011 11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Scott Hall Open Class exhibits will be released: Sunday July 24, 2011 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

GENERAL RULES FOR SCOTT HALL EXHIBITORS
1. Any resident of Johnson County, member of the Johnson County Extension Homemakers Association, or member of one of the Johnson County garden clubs are welcome to exhibit in the Open Class Exhibits. Individuals 19 years and older must exhibit in the Adult categories; individuals 18 years old or under may elect to exhibit in the Adult or Junior categories, but cannot exhibit in both.
2. Fitzpatrick Hall Exhibits see General Rules below.
3. The adult and junior departments to be exhibited in are as follows:
100 – Fine Arts
200 – Quilting
300 – Handicrafts
400 – Floral Arrangements
500 – Photography
600 – Sewing
700 – Needlecraft
800 – Baked Goods
900 – Food Preservation
1000 – V.I.P. – Very Important People
4. ALL EXHIBITS MUST HAVE BEEN MADE BY THE EXHIBITOR DURING THE PAST 12 MONTHS. Exceptions: See rules for the “Fine Arts, Photography and Quilting Classes”.
5. Only one article may be shown by exhibitor in the same item number, except in Fine Arts, Handicrafts Student Classes and V.I.P Classes.
6. There is no entry fee or pre–registration.
7. All Open Class Scott Hall exhibits will be checked–in at Scott Hall on:
Friday, July 15, 2011 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 16, 2011 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
8. In Scott Hall, exhibitors will be given an exhibitor number upon entering the northeast entrance of Scott Hall and will use the same number in all departments in Scott Hall. An identification ticket stub will be given to each exhibitor as articles are checked–in. Exhibitors must keep and present their ticket stub to claim exhibits at the release time. In the event that an exhibitor cannot collect their exhibits on Sunday, July 24, 2011, another person may claim exhibits with original exhibitor’s ticket stub.
9. All exhibits will be released on Sunday, July 24, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be no exceptions to this rule. Remaining exhibits will be taken to the Johnson County Extension Office, 484 N. Morton Street, in Franklin and can be picked up starting Monday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All exhibits must remain in Scott Hall from check–in to release. The Johnson County Fair Board and Johnson County Extension Office are not responsible for exhibits not picked up by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24.
10. No exhibitor will be allowed in Scott Hall during judging. The Fair Board Superintendents, Class Superintendents, the Extension Educator, and Fair Committee workers will be present to enforce this rule and to assist the judges.
11. Superintendents may split classes or create a new class if they deem it necessary.
12. The awards will be as follows:
a. In each Adult and Junior department, except VIP: Grand Champion and Reserve Grand
Champion Ribbons.
b. In each Adult class, except VIP: Champion Ribbon
c. In each Junior class: Champion Ribbon
d. In each Junior and Adult item number, there will be one first, second and third place
awarded, as determined by the judge(s) except in Junior Fine Arts (see page 3, #7) and
Junior Handicrafts (see page 9, #2).
1st place Blue Ribbon
2nd place Red Ribbon
3rd place White Ribbon
Honorable Mention Gold Ribbon
e. In Very Important People classes – All exhibits will receive V.I.P. or Honorable Mention
Ribbons as determined by the judge.
13. Awards will be given at the discretion of the judges.
14. The Johnson County Fair Board and Johnson County Extension Office assume no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged articles.
15. PLEASE NOTE: The County Fair competition is separate from the State Fair competition. Winners DO NOT automatically advance to the State Fair; nor is it necessary to win a county award to enter the State Fair. Entry deadline for State Fair is JULY 1. FITZPATRICK HALL –
OPEN CLASS HORTICULTURE, GARDEN, AND CROPS
All Open Class Flowers and Vegetables will be due in Fitzpatrick Hall
Saturday, July 16, 2011
Between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Rules:
1. Any resident of Johnson County, member of the Johnson County Extension Homemakers Association, or member of one of the Johnson County garden clubs are welcome to exhibit in the Open Class Exhibits.
2. There are separate exhibitor numbers for horticulture, garden, and crops in Fitzpatrick Hall. This is independent of Scott Hall’s open class exhibits. (Please note the exhibit card on page 40 is NOT for Fitzpatrick Hall.)
3. Each exhibitor must choose the flower name and type to determine the proper item no. for each entry.
4. Limit of one (1) entry per item no. per exhibitor.
5. Cut flower specimens should be exhibited in soft drink bottle or similar container. The containers are to be provided by the exhibitor. Containers will not be returned to exhibitor at the end of the fair, with the exception of potted plants, market baskets, artistic design classes, and jars with grain.
6. Horticultural material must be fresh and grown by the exhibitor, unless otherwise stated. Wild flowers and weeds are permissible in the artistic design classes. Nothing artificial should be used.
7. All vegetable and crop exhibits must be grown by the exhibitor.
8. Potted plants must be in possession of the exhibitor at least 3 months prior to showing, with pot size not to exceed 18 inches in diameter.
9. All potted plants, except hanging baskets, must have a watering hole in pot and a drip tray.
10. Champions given in following areas: Cut Flowers, Rose, Potted Plant, Artistic Design, Vegetable, Hay, and Grain
11. Anthers (pollen bearing parts) must be removed from lilies (see diagram).
12. Only 1 entry per category per person.
