RECORD SHEETS – A completed Poultry Record Sheet must be submitted to the Extension Office, no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009. Pullets must be hatched between January 1 and May 15, 2009. Hens must be in laying condition and hatched before January 1, 2009.Pullets and cockerels must be hatched between January 1 and May 15, 2009. Hens must be in laying condition. Hens and cocks must be hatched before January 1, 2009.

A member may exhibit no more than 2 species of birds in miscellaneous fowl classes and is limited to one entry in each class for each species.

Junior showmanship 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade on January 1 of the current year.

Intermediate showmanship 6th, 7th or 8th grade on January 1 of the current year.

Senior showmanship 9th grade or above on January 1 of the current year.

 

Entry forms are due June 15, 2009. The entry forms should be mailed to you by the Extension Office. Entries must include the section number, breed and variety of poultry.

SR 1213 Roaster, a single commercial breed rabbit, weighing 5-8 pounds and less than 6 MO. Of age the day of the show.

SR 1214 Stewer – a single commercial breed rabbit weighing 8 pounds or more and 6 MO. Or older the day of show.

RECORD SHEETS – A Completed Cats Record Sheet is to be submitted to the Extension Office no later than 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009. (A completed Record Sheet has to be submitted for poster only exhibit too.)

All cat entry forms & record sheets are due on or before July 6, 2009 and, must be accompanied by 4-H 777, a Certificate of Vaccination, dated at least 14 days prior to, but not more than one (1) year of the date of exhibition that shows cats have been vaccinated for rabies, feline paneleukopenia, feline rhinotracheitis, and calcivirus. In addition, all cats must have been tested for feline leukemia within 180 days of exhibition. Cats exhibiting any symptoms of sickness determined by the project or building superintendent(s), exhibit or extension personnel, or judges will not be eligible for exhibition. Cat must be in owner's possession by May 15. Refer to Rule #3 in the Johnson Co. 4H General terms and Conditions for member enrollment deadline.

Age and category definitions for the cat show are:

Household kittens – cats ages 4 to 8 months on day of show. Any kitten becoming 8 months old on show day will be considered an adult cat.

Household adults – cats 8 months of age or older on show day.

Purebred – cats of a recognized breed, kept pure for many generations. If the cat is registered, it must have a current registration number from one of the national cat registries, such as the Cat Fanciers Association.

Long haired – cats whose coat has long top hairs, with a thick woolly undercoat. The length of hair on a cat's tail is often used as a determining factor. Hair length is normally 1 1/2" or more.

Short haired – cats whose coat has only short hairs, a smooth, textured coat. Hair length is usually less than 1 1/2" in length.

The Small Animals project may include Gerbils; Guinea Pigs; Hamsters; Hedgehogs; Birds such a Canaries, Finches, Parakeets or Parrots; Ferrets; Frogs; Lizards; Mice; Rats or Non Venomous Snakes. Animals that have a separate 4H project must be exhibited in that project. Any animal that requires a permit by the State of Indiana cannot be shown. (I.e. Turtles)

BOWL CLASSES: A bowl entry will consist of fish, water and plain fish bowl with at least one flat side. NO rocks, greenery or artificial decorations. A net or other cover permitting air circulation is suggested.
